Do not underestimate the power, impact, and influence of the arts on individual and cultural formation. The film you watch. The music you hear. The article you read. It is not only entertainment or information transfer. It shapes. Words matter. Images matter. Ideas matter. All ideas are not equally valid. What you share with others matters. A war is raging in realms unseen by the eye—a war for the mind, will, and heart—a war of spirit and truth. The real battles are fought in this space. Personal illness almost always brings with it depression, in my experience. Disconnectedness, lack of progress, and decline are also associations I make with bouts of infirmity. I have experienced these feelings while ill for as long as I remember. When I have enough energy—reading, physical touch, and sleep—these are few of the lone solices when afflicted. God most assuredly has something profound to teach a person while ill:
